Punch in the gut

So I will now use my blog to recommend another blog...pretty sure that's allowed.  Over on the right, you should see links to other blogs.  Click on the Sixty Feet one and read the blog titled "The Sin of Sodom."
And no...it's not about homosexuality or anything like that...it's a serious challenge that every one of us should consider.

  1. That's funny...I just read that the other day and it was a good punch in the gut. The thought that aways gets to me is that someday we will all stand in front of the God of the universe. We are going to have to tell him what we did to care for those who are in need and what we did to further his kingdom. As John Piper mentions in "Don't Waste Your Life," I don't want to say something weaksauce to God like "See my seashells."

  2. Lucas...actually stole this link from you because Facebook showed that you 'liked' it. By the way...do you know much about this organization? I read through their website and it seems like they're doing good stuff, but I didn't see anything about trying to move the kids towards a situation where they can be adopted or anything like that. I love the idea of improving the conditions of the 'rehabilitation center', but a nice prison for kids is still a prison for kids.

  3. Yeah...Colleen's BFF with the founder's wife (she made me say BFF by the way). They are definitely trying to make it more livable for the kids. They're also currently working with the gov't of Uganda to get it registered as an adoption home. That's been a long painful process. The founder actually recently adopted the first 2 (and only 2) kids that have been adopted from there. They had to circumvent a few things to pull it off since it's not accredited for adoption yet. The other problem is that many of the kids aren't adoptable for various reasons (too old, have parents, etc). For the ones who aren't adoptable, they are trying to educate them to hopefully give them a better chance at life.
